Prince Charles: he could have been an actor

by Diana Burrell on October 13, 2008

There’s a delightful interview posted today on the BBC’s website with Dr. Who’s head writer Russell Davies, who was at the Cheltenham Literature Festival this weekend promoting his new book, Dr. Who: The Writer’s Tale. During the festival he mentioned that Prince Charles had been offered a cameo on Dr. Who and he’d turned it down. Actually, Davies specifically said that the Prince was “a miserable swine” for turning him down.

Good grief, is the Prince mad? It seems he’s rather cosseted by palace officials, who admitted they’d refused the invitation on the Prince’s behalf before he’d seen the offer. I suppose when he reads this and thinks Dr. Who could be just the ticket, he could simply make a few calls and by the end of the day today, he’d have a plum role. Such is the life of a prince.

At any rate, I have a feeling Prince Edward’s kicking wastebaskets somewhere deep in Buckingham Palace.
