As a die hard abfabber, I’m slightly terrified yet drawn to the new American version. I mean, no smoking? Really? Luckily Kristin Johnston is very capable of producing comedy out of thin air.

The US Office was a one-off success. This American Ab Fab will be yet another failed translation into American TV. Why can’t Americans enjoy programming from other countries without having to own it as “American”? (‘Kath & Kim’, ‘Coupling’ etc.) – Limey

Depends. I was very skeptical about the US version of The Office until I watched it. They might be able to pull it off.

Hmmmm. I do like her. She can be quite irreverent. I think they would do better not to try to imitate the original too much as it rarely works. However, Cybil Shepherd did a good show about ten years ago (?) with Christina Baranski and they didn’t smoke.
