I’ve mentioned before on Hail Britannia my obsession with Mistresses, the soapy series about four friends with messy love lives that ran for two seasons on BBC America. In fact, that post gets hundreds of hits each month from people looking for news about its third season, supposedly in production with Joanna Lumley in a guest role as Katie’s opinionated mother.
I’ve had my fingers crossed that BBC America would be adding the final season to its lineup, so today I inquired and received this swift response from BBC America’s publicity department:
“Thanks for your interest and support of Mistresses but currently (my emphasis) we don’t have any plans to air the third season.”
Bummer! But I was heartened by the word “currently.” That means things can change, right?
Ok, Mistresses fans — it’s time to let BBC America know that we want to see this third season in their programming. yes, DEFINITELY!! I moved back from London to NYC earlier this year and cannot believe BBC-A has no plans to air such a hit show!!!!

BBC America is infamous for starting something and not finishing it, you can’t do that! Finish up the series, it’s 4 episodes for crying out loud!!!

I thought BBC America showed British shows…so what’s the problem in showing season 3…you put the first 2 on with no problem…finish what you started…you’ve got us hooked & now you expect us to not be bothered that your not going to finish the show…put the last season on please & put this Brit women & many others that watch BBC America out of our misery…thanks!!!!

When I Google Mistresses, I see where I can watch season 3 online…….I haven’t had the opportunity to open this just yet but will this weekend. Why, BBC- A, will you not promote this in the U.S.? We are absolutely HOOKED on this fabulous show- with British series being the absolute best on television….I can’t hardly survive without this show. Not sure what I will do when it truly is gone for good. Please let us have it!

Just stumbled upon this series while browsing through Netflix. I became completely hooked and have watched the entire series except the last 3 episodes which I am saving. I am so sad to read that 3 episodes is all that I have left! How amazing it would be to experience more of these womens lives. It literally helped fill the void left from Sex and the City here in the states and more episodes are needed!
This show was bar-none my favorite out of all the BBC programming. I do enjoy Ramsey, but I’ve seen them all. And Top Gear? Not my thing. Please, bring the ladies with their wonderfly tortured love lives back! I adored the show, and wait anxiously for it’s return.
Really?? So basically the British teased us, Americans!! They introduce the characters, the plot, the storyline and developments, they make us fall in love with every single fiber of what Mistresses represents and then leave us hanging!! Why, I ask? Aboslutely, nothing could plainly justify that. BBC America links us to your world, so why not use the channel to finish what you started. Are these reviews not enough? Mistresses, Season 1 & 2 was like a life line for me, at a time in my life when my surroundings were too mundane and repetive to endure. Mistresses was so addicting, that my heart would palpitate for the mere essence of it’s existence. The episodes kept me salivating for more at every turn. While morality is questionable, the individuality of all characters makes them human and identifiable. In life, we don’t walk away, in the middle of something just because of nothingness; not giving us closure, is like telling us to accept the nothingness. How can we possibly accept nothing, when it’s existence is an illusion?? However, Mistresses and it’s end does exist, therefore we can not take no for an answer.

I have just heard that you will not be airing the 3rd installment of Mistresses, I am extremely disappointed. This is a great show and it I cannot believe that you will not be adding it to your schedule.
Also, I cannot for the life of me understand why, with all of the wonderful British movies and T.V. show/series you manage to put the worst t.v shows on and replay them all day. We want to see good quality British movies and British television. Not all these reality shows that are not remotely entertaining. With the richness of movies and series that you could choose from, you have managed to pick the absolute worst crap to but on BBC America. You need to make some changes, so that we here in American can enjoy the best of what Britain has to offer. I have bee completely dissatisfied with your programing!
Air shows like Mistresses, Doc Martin, M-I 5, Cranford and Return to Cranford, Jane Austin’s work, period movies, British movies, Foyle’s War, BBC Mini-Series, and entertaining t.v. series.

PLEASE air season 3 of Mistresses in the US on BBC….every week I check just in case, we loved it here. When you start to air a program and then you get us addicted and then stop it’s heart breaking, my Friday nights are not the same.

PLEASE air the Mitresses final series! BBC America was my ‘go-to’ channel- now it is pitiful! Unless you are a Dr Who fan, there is nothing to watch. With so much good British drama and culture- why do we see only sci-fi? One can only take so much Top Gear-although I like the show. Please bring back some of that greatness from across the pond…….
